Compare the2024 Maserati GranCabrioVS 2024 Jaguar F-Type

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GranCabrio has standard Rear Emergency Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The F-Type doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the GranCabrio. But it costs extra on the F-Type.

The GranCabrio offers an optional Surround View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The F-Type only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the GranCabrio and the F-Type have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The GranCabrio’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 98 more horsepower (542 vs. 444) and 59 lbs.-ft. more torque (487 vs. 428) than the F-Type P450’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

On the EPA test cycle the GranCabrio gets better mileage than the F-Type:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the GranCabrio’s fuel efficiency. The F-Type doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranCabrio higher (5 out of 10) than the Jaguar F-Type (3). This means the GranCabrio produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the F-Type every 15,000 miles.

The GranCabrio’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Type’s standard 35 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GranCabrio has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the F-Type.

The front and rear suspension of the GranCabrio uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the F-Type, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The GranCabrio has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The GranCabrio’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F-Type doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GranCabrio’s wheelbase is 12.1 inches longer than on the F-Type (115.3 inches vs. 103.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GranCabrio is 2.4 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the F-Type.

The GranCabrio’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the F-Type’s (54.5% to 45.5%). This gives the GranCabrio more stable handling and braking.

The front grille of the GranCabrio uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The F-Type doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The GranCabrio has standard seating for 4 passengers; the F-Type can only carry 2.

The GranCabrio’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The F-Type does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The GranCabrio offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The F-Type doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the GranCabrio to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The F-Type doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The F-Type’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The GranCabrio’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranCabrio has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Type doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The GranCabrio’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The F-Type’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The GranCabrio has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the F-Type.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the GranCabrio offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The F-Type doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

With standard voice command, the GranCabrio offers the driver hands free control of the radio, climate controls and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The F-Type doesn’t offer a voice control system.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati GranCabrio has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the glovebox. The F-Type doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
