If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Camaro offers an available collision warning system without the automated brake feature that would prevent or reduce the collision if the driver fails to react.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GranTurismo Folgore has standard Rear Emergency Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Camaro doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The GranTurismo Folgore has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Camaro doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The Camaro doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore weighs 831 to 1571 pounds more than the Chevrolet Camaro. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The GranTurismo Folgore comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Camaro’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 416 more horsepower (751 vs. 335) and 712 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 284) than the Camaro’s standard 3.6 DOHC V6. The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 296 more horsepower (751 vs. 455) and 541 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 455) than the Camaro LT1/SS’ standard 6.2 V8. The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 101 more horsepower (751 vs. 650) and 346 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 650) than the Camaro ZL1’s standard 6.2 supercharged V8.

The GranTurismo Folgore can travel with zero emissions for 242 miles. The Camaro can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the GranTurismo Folgore’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Camaro doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The GranTurismo Folgore, as a pure battery electric vehicle, has no need to “idle” its motors in traffic: they only burn power when moving. The GranTurismo Folgore’s climate control systems still work completely when the vehicle is stopped. The Camaro still runs its internal combustion engine whenever it’s stopped, burning excess fuel.

The GranTurismo Folgore has a standard locking charge port with a power remote release convenient to the driver. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Camaro. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage; a locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore higher (10 out of 10) than the Chevrolet Camaro (1 to 6). The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore comes standard with an automatic transmission, for driver comfort, especially in the city. Automatic costs extra on the Camaro.

All wheel drive, available in the GranTurismo Folgore, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Chevrolet Camaro is not available with all wheel drive.

The front and rear suspension of the GranTurismo Folgore uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Camaro, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The GranTurismo Folgore has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The GranTurismo Folgore’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Camaro doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GranTurismo Folgore’s wheelbase is 4.6 inches longer than on the Camaro (115.3 inches vs. 110.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GranTurismo Folgore is 1.5 inches wider in the front and 2.6 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Camaro.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Camaro’s (51.9% to 48.1%). This gives the GranTurismo Folgore more stable handling and braking.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors optional at extra cost in the Camaro (except LT1), the GranTurismo Folgore has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

If the windows are left open on the GranTurismo Folgore the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Camaro can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Camaro’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s LED headlights produce a whiter, brighter light (up to 3x) using five times less power than the Camaro’s standard projector halogen headlights and light instantly. LED lights also last over twenty times longer than halogen. The GranTurismo Folgore’s LED headlights produce a white, bright light using less electricity than the Camaro’s optional xenon high intensity discharge (HID) headlights. HID headlights can be slow to reach full brightness or power cycle, causing issues when flashing them to signal other vehicles; LED headlights light instantly. LED lights also last about three to four times as long.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the GranTurismo Folgore detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Camaro doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the GranTurismo Folgore offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Camaro doesn’t offer cornering lights. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Heated mirrors cost extra on the Camaro and aren’t offered on the Camaro LT1.

The GranTurismo Folgore has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The Camaro doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.

The GranTurismo Folgore has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the Camaro and isn’t available on the Camaro LT1.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard rear a/c vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable. The Camaro doesn’t offer rear vents.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the GranTurismo Folgore offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Camaro doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Camaro and isn’t available on the Camaro LT1.
